What is the idea plants setup in a chameleon cage?

Since chameleons are arboreal reptiles they need trees to climb, the best plants for chameleons also help to reduce stress and make your chameleon feel safe. There are varieties of plants for chameleons in the market and it is obvious that you should place more than one plant in your chameleon cage.

Carefully understand plants setup not only for the good of the plants and the cage’s appearance but for your pet chameleon as well. This is why I have listed here four plants category and some necessaries elements to complete your chameleon’s cage.

#1 Type of plant

Choosing what type of plants to place in the chameleon cage is depends on your preference. But I would like to recommend that you should include 4 types of plant below on your plant setup:

Hanging Plants: It is not necessary to have in a chameleon’s cage as your pets do not really need it. But a hanging plant will make the cage look great and mimic the natural environment of chameleon. It is hanged in the pet’s enclosure to serve as a hiding place. Chameleons will feel more covered with this plant.

Climbers: You can create a jungle scenery by adding climbers on the pet’s enclosure but do not overdo.

Foliage Plants: This is the main type of plant that should be place in a chameleon cage. It is better to give them more foliage for chameleons than the other types of plants. You should add more than two foliage plants in a cage. As mansion below, chameleon love to climb, so choose foliage plants with sturdy stem so your pets can be able to climb on.

Filler Plants: The filler pant can be placed on the enclosure’s floor or sides and create the colorful environment for chameleons.

#2 Soil

Obviously, it is important to carefully consider the type of soil the plant requires. Organic soil will work well with plants used in a chameleon cage that prevents harmful chemicals. You also can easy find organic soil in the pet shop with affordable price.

#3 Lighting

Plants require sunlight to grow. When it comes to plants for chameleon cage, most of them require both direct and indirect lights. Heat lamps it the great light source but it may not be sufficient to support the plant’s need for lighting. Due to that, sunlight will still be needed.
