While entry is free during the week, there is a nominal fee on weekends: $5 in the morning, $10 in the afternoon, and another $5 in the evening. However, each visitor receives a $5 coupon to use towards purchasing pumpkins, ensuring that no one leaves empty-handed (and effectively refunding the entry fee). Since I wasn’t looking for a large pumpkin, I ended up picking two mini pumpkins and one small pumpkin to decorate the windowsill of my home.
A pumpkin patch is like a giant farm with games, activities, animals, lots of children, strollers, laughter, and of course, pumpkins and Halloween decorations. It’s an immersive experience that makes you forget you’re in the heart of Los Angeles and transports you back to childhood. All the activities (primarily designed for children) work on a ticket system. Each entry provides three tickets, but additional tickets can be purchased for $1 each. There is plenty to do at Mr. Bones Pumpkin Patch – pony rides, straw maze, face painting, inflatable play areas, a mini farm, workshops, and much more. It truly is a paradise for children!
However, I have to make a side comment about the pony rides. As someone who loves horses, I cannot endorse the practice of tethering them this way. It is both silly and unfortunate to see these beautiful animals tied up, especially when it is clear that they are not happy. Unfortunately, this practice is becoming more common, and until it is prohibited, it is likely to continue.
Since the activities were primarily for children, my friends and I decided to indulge ourselves in a photo session, acting like 10-year-old girls with our pumpkins. It was an opportunity for us to capture the Halloween spirit and create some memorable pictures.
